Pai Gow

Pai Gow is an American derivative of the Chinese domino game. It is believed that the game originated in the late 1800s when the Chinese helped build the U.S. railroads.

How to play Pai Gow

Pai Gow Poker is played with a traditional deck of 52 cards plus one Joker. The Joker can be used only as an Ace, or to complete a straight or flush. Each player has the opportunity to be the banker. The dealer acts as the bank against all other players, including the dealer. In order to act as the banker, the player must have placed a bet when the dealer was the banker, and may not bank again until the other players and the dealer have the opportunity to bank even if the player is betting more than one hand. Any player acting as a bank must have sufficient funds available to cover all wagers placed by other players for that round of play. All players bet against the banker. The opportunity to be a banker will rotate around the players (including the dealer) counterclockwise. A player is not required to be the banker. If none of the players wish to be the banker, the house will continue to act as the banker.
